synergistic effect of chemical enhancer and iontophoresis for transdermal delivery of nebivolol hydrochloride
Authors
abstract
the aim of the present study was to develop and investigate the feasibility of delivering nebivolol as a transdermal patch by iontophoresis. the passive and electrically assisted transdermal delivery of nebivolol hydrochloride by iontophoresis will improve the therapeutic efficacy and overcome the difficulties raised in oral drug delivery. because of its extensive hepatic metabolism and low dose, nebivolol hydrochloride become a suitable candidate for transdermal administration. the matrix transdermal patches of nebivolol hydrochloride were prepared and tested for in-vitro drug release and ex-vivo permeation. the study was conducted with the help of silver-silver chloride electrodes by iontophoresis across hairless rat skin. drug release was evaluated in the presence of iontophoresis field using a current density of 0.5 ma/cm2 or without electric field i.e passive diffusion by the process of electro-migration and electro-osmosis. drug was measured spectrophotometrically and flux was determined. the flux of nebivolol significantly increased (p

full textEffect of Modulated Alternating and Direct Current Iontophoresis on Transdermal Delivery of Lidocaine Hydrochloride
The objective of this study was to investigate the iontophoretic delivery of lidocaine hydrochloride through porcine skin and to compare the effects of modulated alternating and direct current iontophoresis. Continuous and modulated iontophoresis was applied for one hour and two hours (0-1 h and 4-5th h) using a 1% w/v solution of lidocaine hydrochloride. Tape stripping was done to quantify the...
full textEnhanced Transdermal Delivery of Granisetron by Using Iontophoresis
The purpose of the present study was to explore the passive and electrically assisted transdermal transport of Granisetron hydrochloride (GRA) in solution and gel formulation through iontophoresis and also the feasibility of delivering therapeutic amounts of drug for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. In this study, iontophoretic permeation of GRA through guinea pig...

PURPOSE The objective of the study was to evaluate the synergistic transdermal permeation effect of chemical enhancers and iontophoresis technique on tolterodine tartrate (TT) transdermal gel and to evaluate its pharmacokinetic properties. MATERIALS AND METHODS Taguchi robust design was used for optimization of formulations. Skin permeation rates were evaluated using the Keshary-chein type di...
full textTransdermal Iontophoresis of Diltiazem Hydrochloride: Effect of Concentration and Electrical Factors
The present work showed that the iontophoretic approach was feasible to enhance transdermal drug delivery of drug. In vitro horizontal cell has been developed to co-relate with in vivo iontophoretic drug delivery more closely. Two electrodes were positioned on the either side of the epithelial. Iontophoretic delivery of Diltiazem HCl across porcine ear skin increased proportional to (a) Increas...
